Media partners included reputable print and radio networks; supported by promotions in industry specific magazines and websites, online email campaigns, outdoor signage, social networking websites, posters, flyers and grass-roots marketing initiatives.
2010 Media Partners
More FM, The Press and What Now supported the expo in 2010 to ensure that event messaging reached a diverse and potentially new audience. 2011 media partners will be announced soon.
The Press: Escape– a 4 page wrap around The Press Escape section as well as a comprehensive campaign commencing three weeks prior to the event.
MoreFM have been a key stakeholder of Recreation Expo since it's inception. There is an excellent synergy between their listenership and the Expo target audience; which will see this relationship continue into 2011.
What Now– the kids TV show What Now? broadcasted live from their Burwood Park in Christchurch on Sunday 19th September and promoted Recreation Expo. Main focus will be the Britz Rock Climbing Wall and other fun related activities for kids.

www.recreationexpo.co.nz - The event website is the the main portal for web-based promotion; with all marketing material listing the website as the 'Call To Action'.
Sponsors and exhibitors in 2009 and 2010 received extensive promotion via the website, this included: logos, links, bios, listings of specials, seminars, prizes and on-stand activities plus the opportunity to feature in the Expo e-newsletter.
www.facebook.com - The Expo will utilise the social media website Facebook to reach a broad audience via a series of blogs, forums and video clips.
www.eventfinder.co.nz - The Expo will be promoted via this national event marketing website. Which in turns enables a listing on the AA Travel website, Yahoo Events website, MSN Events website, stuff.co.nz Events website and others.
www.bethere.co.nz - The Christchurch City Council event promotion website will be utilised to ensure that timely reminders are sent to their extensive database of subscribers.
In addition to these dedicated web-based promotions, the event will be listed on dozens of industry specific websites with a link back to the event website.
Get Out There... Recreation Expo E-Newsletter
A monthly e-newsletter is sent to the Recreation Expo database building to a weekly distribution from October onwards.
Posters & Flyers
Posters & Flyers will be displayed at exhibitor retail outlets and distributed to Christchurch cafes, office blocks, libraries, sporting clubs, recreational facilities, universities, CPIT, Red Bus, City Shuttles...
Outdoor Signage
Over 100 outdoor signs will be placed at key recreational areas and main roads around Christchurch from three weeks prior to the event, this will direct people to the event itself and its website for more information.
The More FM A-frame billboard trailer promoting the Expo will be parked on busy roads around Christchurch for 6-weeks leading up to the Expo.
Active Canterbury Sport & Recreation Guide
Produced by Christchurch City Council, over 40,000 copies of this publication are distributed to sporting clubs, libraries and recreational centres. The event is promoted in the current edition with a full-page-advertisement in the middle of the brochure on the detachable map & location guide.
