Recreation: The NZ Outdoor Adventure Expo was successfully launched in Christchurch in September 2009.

After moving to NZ from Canada in 2007, 360 Degree Events - Managing Director, Karen Hamilton was surprised to learn that 'the adventure capital of the world' did not have an event to showcase the broad range of outdoor pursuits and associated products and services on offer in New Zealand. So Recreation Expo Ltd was established with the primary aim of providing both existing outdoor enthusiasts and those keen to take up new pursuits, with the opportunity to learn from industry experts and to test and compare products and services under one roof. The focus is on encouraging active lifestyles, on having fun ... and just having a go!

Event Concept

Recreation Expo seeks to achieve the following:

• Create an annual event dedicated to the promotion of active lifestyles and outdoor pursuits.
• Showcase the variety of outdoor activities readily accessible in Canterbury and New Zealand.
• Provide a platform for interaction between buyers & sellers of recreational products & services.
• Promote and encourage participation via interactive demonstrations.
• Deliver education.
• Develop a sense of community.
• Deliver an environmentally, culturally, socially and economically sustainable event.

Event Format

• Public Exhibition - selling products & services with a recreational focus direct to the public.
• The Camping Expo - over 2,000 square metres of tents, camper vans and camping products.
• The Golf Expo - an event within an event, the Golf Expo area provides visitors with the opportunity to have their swing analysed by a golf professional, test and compare clubs, putt for a hole in one and find out the latest in golf destinations, clubs and resorts.
• The Recreation Expo Do-Athlon - this parent and child team event is based on the motto "You can DO it!"
• Entertainment Stage - the hub of the event, it is home to The Ultimate Camp Cooking Competition, guest speakers, live music and more...
• The Assault Course - a hands on event challenging attendees to climb there way over and under a professional assault course.
• The Rock Climbing Wall - this 8-metre high rock climbing wall provides a safe environment for learning to climb, testing your agility or just racing your mates to the top!
• Interactive Demonstrations - product demonstrations and activities to encourage audience participation and make strong connections to recreational activities.
• Competitions - to motivate attendance and participation once onsite there are timed activities and games of chance. Prizes are products & services donated by sponsors and exhibitors.
• Food Vendors - a variety of healthy snacks plus great coffee will be available to encourage visitors to stay longer.

• Friday - 4pm - 7pm
• Saturday - 10am - 5pm
• Sunday - 10am - 5pm

• Adults - $10
• Seniors - $8
• Youths (12-18yrs) - $8
• Kids (Under 12yrs) - FREE* (2x kids per adult; additional kids are $5)
